Craving chocolate ice cream? Instead of chocolate ice cream, try this super easy dark chocolate nice cream. It's good for you. Really! #yum #30Seconds #nicecream #icecream #dessert #food #recipe #healthyfood #omg #delicious @elisatalk

Wouldn’t it be nice if, when that craving for chocolate ice cream hits, you could respond with something totally delicious that’s actually good for you? I have great news: you can! Instead of chocolate ice cream, try this super easy dark chocolate nice cream.

What is
nice cream? Instead of the typical ice cream, which is loaded with fat, sugar and calories, nice cream is a sugar-, dairy- and gluten-free alternative that’s naturally sweet and made with nutritious ingredients. It’s ice cream made healthy!

What makes this
ice cream recipe good for you? The base of this nice cream recipe is frozen bananas. Seriously! Check out the health benefits of bananas. Made with just four ingredients and with a prep time of only about five minutes (and no ice cream maker needed), you just may become a nice cream convert!

Here’s what you need to make this easy, low-sodium chocolate ice cream recipe: ripe frozen bananas, unsweetened cocoa powder, vanilla extract and almond milk (or other plant-based milk). You just blend all the ingredients in blender then serve or freeze before serving.

Serve with your favorite ice cream toppings like chopped nuts or sliced
fruit, or all on its own. Enjoy this guilt-free treat for dessert or as a sweet snack anytime!

Recipe Notes

  • Feel free to use the milk of your choice in this recipe.

  • You can make plain nice cream (not chocolate) by leaving out the cocoa powder.

  • The consistency of nice cream is similar to soft-serve ice cream. If you prefer it to be more firm, then allow it to set for a couple of hours in the freezer before serving.

  • Store leftover nice cream in an airtight container in the freezer.

Here’s how to make it:

  1. Put the frozen banana chunks into a blender or food processor.
  2. Add the cocoa powder, vanilla extract and almond milk.
  3. Blend until smooth.
  4. Serve immediately, or pour the mixture into a freezer-safe container. Freeze a couple of hours until it firms up, then serve.
